Possible Fix: Go to "Tools", "Account Settings" and select your email account. Click on "More Settings".

Click the "Outgoing Server" Tab and select "My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication" and CHECK "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."

Horde is the webmail most use on TeraScape servers. At first glance it may not look like it has much functionality, but it does quite well compared to other programs out there.

This is a list of simple tweaks you can make to make things easier.

Open Email directly to Inbox:

Click Options, Login Tasks.
~Settings: View or mailbox to display after login: INBOX

Automatically view Attachments:

Click Options, Message Viewing.
~Settings: Block images in HTML messages unless they are specifically requested? UNCHECK

If you're on the road somewhere, without your laptop, you can still check your mail on any wifi-enabled phone using the Horde interface (email.terascape.net). Use your phone to navigate to this page:

and log in using your full email & password. The smaller, virtually imageless display will load fast on your phone, so you can check your email while on the road.

Edit: Changes in Google Apps apparently no longer let you use a .cn even through the control panel. If this changes, I'll update this article again.

Continuing from this article about setting up Google Apps from China, I'd like to go into details about how to set up Google Apps with a .cn or a .com.cn.

The system will now allow attachments up to 20 Megs for emails. Due to the numerous design companies that host with us, we've increased this to allow for larger size files to be transferred.

While we run our own servers & such, complete with email packages, we prefer the Gmail way of doing things and have outsourced our personal email accounts to Google Apps. However, we ran into a problem when trying to register for the service from here in China. Google Apps "isn't available in your country".
